Helena Dollimore MP has delivered a Blue Cross petition to 10 Downing Street to call for an end to greyhound racing in the UK.
Helena accompanied Blue Cross activists, historian and broadcaster Professor David Olusoga OBE, and ex-racing greyhound Holly to submit the petition for a debate in Parliament.
Too many greyhounds used for racing are treated poorly, injured, or killed and our rehoming centres are packed with retired dogs that are difficult to rehome. Statistical data from the Greyhound Board of Great Britain showed that, between 2018 and 2023, over 2,700 racing greyhounds have died or were put to sleep.
It’s time to ban this outdated, dying ‘sport’, like many other nations have.
